In 2010, Jacob Møllenbach and Steen Laursen got an ambitious idea: They wanted to develop a home test that could measure men’s sperm quality, namely measure the concentration of progressive* motile sperm cells compared to the existing tests on the market that measure total sperm count.
* Progressive motile sperm are the only type of sperm that can fertilize a woman’s eggs in a natural way.
They both have more than 20 years of experience in fertility treatment and artificial insemination – Steen as a researcher at the Danish Hospital Rigshospitalet and later as co-owner of a fertility clinic in Fredericia and Jacob as R&D Manager.
